Global Pediatric Rheumatology Experts Convene
at CMC Vellore for NCPR 2026

Pediatric Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology division, Department of Pediatrics, CMC, Vellore successfully hosted the 24th National Conference of the Pediatric Rheumatology Society of India (NCPR 2026), bringing together leading pediatricians, researchers, and rheumatology professionals from across the country and the globe. The highly anticipated medical summit took place at the Scudder Auditorium in Bagayam, featuring a pre-conference workshop and CME on July 30, followed by the main conference on July 31 and August 1, 2026.

Cantered around the theme, “Translating excellence in Pediatric Rheumatology: Global guidelines in Resource conscious care,” the three-day event aimed to bridge the gap between world-class medical advancements and accessible healthcare delivery in developing regions.

NCPR 2026 was accredited by The Tamil nadu Dr. MGR Medical University with 30 credit points and Tamil nadu  Medical council with 6 credit hours. 

270 participants attended the conference.

Key Highlights and Scientific Advancements

The comprehensive scientific program offered a deep dive into the latest clinical breakthroughs for treating children with complex rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. Key focus areas of the clinical sessions included:

  • Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA): Experts discussed clinical spectrums, challenges, and the integration of newer therapies, such as the intersection of biologic revolutions and small molecule precision treatments.
  • Critical Syndromes & Diseases: Dedicated panels unmasked the complexities of Kawasaki Disease, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), and severe autoinflammatory syndromes.
  • The Dr. Balu Athreya Oration: A major highlight of the main conference schedule, celebrating legacy and continuous innovation in pediatric care. Oration was given by Dr. Suma Balan, from Amrita institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi.
  • Cross-Specialty Collaboration: Multi-specialist discussions on pediatric uveitis, childhood interstitial lung disease (ILD), and managing medical emergencies in pediatric rheumatology showcased a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Organized under the leadership of Organizing Chairman Dr. T. Sathish Kumar and Organizing Secretaries Dr. Sathish Kumar Loganathan and Dr. Murugan S, the conference served as a vital platform for dynamic case-based discussions, clinicopathological conundrums, and hands-on learning.

In NCPR 2026, 90 e-posters and 30 Challenging case posters were presented by various young MD residents and DM students from all over the country

By fostering meaningful dialogues, presenting ground-breaking research, and sparking fresh ideas, NCPR 2026 has set a new benchmark for collegial partnerships, ensuring that the next chapter in pediatric rheumatology will continue to improve the quality of life for young children.
