Ten-year-old Adithya, from Piler in Andhra Pradesh, came to CMC Vellore with severe acute pancreatitis complicated by multi-organ dysfunction. What followed was a challenging 45-day stay that tested the little boy, his family, and the medical team caring for him.
Adithya required intensive medical care, including mechanical ventilation, multiple drains to manage peripancreatic fluid collections, and a nasojejunal feeding tube to provide the nutrition his body desperately needed.
There were difficult days when hope seemed to fade. But Adithya was a strong-willed little boy. Even through the pain and setbacks, he kept fighting. Slowly, steadily, his condition improved, and after 45 long days, he was finally well enough to go home.
For his family, the prolonged treatment was also a tremendous financial burden. Support through CMC’s Hospital-Free Scheme (Charitable Fund) helped cover a significant portion of his treatment expenses, ensuring that financial hardship did not stand in the way of the care he needed.
Today, Adithya is doing well on follow-up—a cheerful reminder that sometimes, the bravest battles are fought by the smallest hearts.
Our healing continues. Every day.
